Dr. Gregorio F. Zaide (1907-1986) was Professor Emeritus of History at the Far Eastern University, a member of the National Academy of Science and Technology, and winner of the Republic Cultural Heritage Award. In his time, he was the most traveled Filipino historian, with teaching and research stints at various universities and institutions in the United Nations, the United States, Mexico, and other countries in Latin America, and Asia. One of the founders of the International Association of Historians of Asia (IAHA), he was also thrice president of the Philippine Historical Association. Dr. Zaide also served as Mayor of his hometown, Pagsanjan, Laguna, and was a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Club. He has written over eighty books and numerous articles.
Dr. Sonia M. Zaide, is a graduate of the London School of Economics (M.Sc., Ph.D.) and finished language and cultural studies at the University of Madrid, Salamanca, Granada, and Paris, France. A life member of the University of London Convocation and the Philippine Historical Association, she is a consultant of the United Nations International Maritime Organization. A professorial lecturer at various colleges and universities in the Philippines, she has also worked in banks and higher educational institutions in the United States and Britain. She has written over thirty books and numerous other publications and multi-media resources.

Eden Dreo-Lozande is a graduate of Bethel Bible College with a major in Christian Education. She also took Preschool Education at Trinity College, Quezon City. She is the founder and administrator of Christ the Lord of the Harvest Academy which was established in 1995. She is married to Rev. Dr. Crisologo L. Lozande. They have five children. Lucia R. Pasamonte is a writer, editor, and translator. An AB Humanities graduate of the University of the Philippines, she has edited books in religion, literature, the social sciences, and humanities. A participant of the U.P. Creative Writing Center seminar on Writing for Children, she has also concentrated on writing and editing children’s textbooks and magazines. Vivian B. Tica finished her degree in AB Psychology and MA in Social Psychology at the Ateneo de Manila University as a scholar. A writer at heart, Mrs. Tica has authored numerous textbooks and activity books for children. She is currently the moderator of the school paper and yearbook of the Higher Ground Baptist Academy. She is married to Pastor Nimrod Ebenezer C. Tica, Music Director and Youth Pastor of the Malabon International Baptist Church. Judith D. Redondo has a Master’s degree in Language and Literature (English) from De La Salle University, Manila. An alumna of St. Scholastica’s College, Manila, Ms. Redondo has experienced teaching English to adult Vietnamese refugees in a non-formal classroom setting at the Philippine Refugee Processing Center, Bataan. Carmencita H. Acosta is a born-again Christian award-winning journalist (Premio del Periodismo for 2000 given by the Instituto Cervantes), a summa cum laude Bachelor of Philosophy graduate of the University of Santo Tomas, and a translator and interpreter from English to Spanish and vice versa in international conventions. She is the author of Fort Santiago and the Rizal Shrine and co-author of Eminent Filipinos – both published by the National Historical Institute. She has written English, My Gift From God Gr. 6 for APCI.
Marilyn G. Frivaldo has taken Master’s in Teaching English Language Arts from the Philippine Normal University as well as an MA in Communications from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, where she also finished her BS Education Major in English. Ms. Frivaldo has been a grade school, high school, and college English/Journalism teacher. She has also been an editor and writer for Jesus the Healer magazine. She has written Reading, My Gift From God Gr. 4 for APCI.
Adora C. Balmes holds a Sociology degree from the University of the Philippines, Diliman. Ms. Balmes is a writer and an editor. She has written for television, newspapers, magazines, and the worldwide web. She worked for the Presidential Commission for Culture and Arts (now NCCA). She has authored the Palanca awarded children’s story, Ang Paglalakbay ni Butirik and more than thirty other stories which were subsequently printed in children’s magazines. As a book editor, Ms. Balmes conceptualized, co-created, and launched the children’s book series, Tutubi Patrol published by OMF Literature. She has written Reading, My Gift From God Gr. 5 for APCI.
Benjamin R. Baclagon is a Youth Minister Director of Grace Bible Church. He is also a freelance writer for various publications. His essays for “My Favorite Book” contest, which was sponsored by National Bookstore and the Philippine Star, won third place and honourable mention in 2003 and 2004, respectively. He has co-authored Reading, My Gift From God Gr. 6 for APCI.
Ma. Susana B. Borrero is an editor and children’s story writer. She has written several children’s books including Miyawing Kuting, Gilgam Langgam, Lolo Uweng: The Wise Old Owl, and Bulilit Learns the Frog Talk. Her stories have been included in Mga Kutitap ng Pag-asa (World Vision) and Baget: An Anthology of Filipino Young Adult Fiction (KUTING). Her Salu-salo, which won first prize in the 1997 Palanca Awards (Children’s story in Filipino) is included in Ang Gintong Habihan: Mga Kuwentong Premyado ng Palanca (Tahanan Books for Young People). Analissa M. Fermanes is a graduate of BS Civil Engineering from the University of Santo Tomas where she also took MS Management Engineering. Ms. Fermanes is a licensed Civil Engineer currently practicing her profession. She was a former Mathematics teacher at the Jesus is Lord College, Bulacan. Norman D. Pasamonte graduated BS Economics and MS Statistics from the University of the Philippines, Diliman. He also holds a Ph.D. Major in Finance from the De La Salle University, Manila. He is a member of the American Statistical Society, the Financial Management Association, and the Global Association of Risk Professionals. Marites B. Jarina graduated BS and MA Education Major in Mathematics from the Philippine Normal University. A board certified teacher, Ms. Jarina also holds a certification from the International Education Research Foundation, CA, USA (US equivalent of the Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with concentration in Mathematics and graduate coursework in education). Ms. Jarina has been teaching Mathematics since 1991. She has co-authored the following APCI books: Mathematics, My Gift From God Gr. 4, 5, and 6.
Pastor Tony Ong graduated Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at the Mapua Institute of Technology. After practicing as a licensed Civil Engineer for seven years, he entered the Asian Theological Seminary, finishing Master in Divinity and served as a minister of the Gospel since 1984. Aside from pastoring different Evangelical churches, he founded and administered a high school in Sta. Cruz, Laguna for seven years. He also earned a Certficate in Professional Education at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, and has taken units in Master in Management at Letran College, Calamba. Dr. Shirley O. Lua is an Associate Professor at the Department of Literature, De La Salle University, Manila. She holds a Ph.D. in Literature and an MA in Language and Literature major in English, from the De La Salle University where she graduated with high distinction. She is APCI’s consultant for the elementary English series.
Dr. Melba Padilla Maggay is a writer and social anthropologist. She holds a doctorate in Philippine Studies, a masteral degree in English Literature, and a first degree in Mass Communication. Dr. Maggay has won top Palanca literary prizes in English essay writing. A specialist in intercultural communication, she was Research Fellow on the subject at the University of Cambridge under the auspices of Tyndale House. She has lectured on this and other cross-cultural issues worldwide, including a stint as Northrup Visiting Professor at Hope College, Michigan and Visiting Lecturer at All Nations Christian College in England. She is APCI’s consultant for the elementary Reading series.
Aileen C. Gonzales is an educator with more than twenty years of teaching Mathematics and Computer Science. She graduated BS Mathematics at the University of the Philippines, with an MA in Mathematics from the University of Washington. She has taken the doctoral program in Mathematics at the University of Illinois, Chicago. Ms. Gonzales was a professor of Mathematics at the Columbia College in Chicago. She was also adjunct faculty at the Harold Washington College, Illinois. She worked as teaching assistant for the Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science Department at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She was also an instructor at the Mathematics Department of the University of the Philippines. Ms. Gonzales is a missionary establishing functional literacy, including computer literacy, for Philippine minority communities. She is APCI’s consultant for the elementary Mathematics series.
